Well I collected the lens and I was straight into my garden, always seems to be my first port of call with a new lens/camera/technique. I was lucky enough to find the Nodal Ninja rail settings for the Nikon D90 with the Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye, which saved me hours of experimenting and trial and error. I had previously been using Stitcher but found that it didn’t work with the fisheye lens. I remembered that Tim at Ultrawide had used a free programme called Hugin. It took some playing around with to get the settings right but i finally got it to stitch my images together and this was the result. I can’t quite believe how the image turned out it required no editing what so ever. The image is crisp and clear and in focus the exposure is perhaps a little bit off but otherwise I’m seriously impressed with it for a first attempt. Lots more to come.
Hey Alex no worries more than happy to help i’m actually using a Nodal Ninja 2 as well. The bottom rail setting needs to be 52mm and the top 86mm. You will need to take the camera off the ninja to get the zenith and nadir but it stitches pretty well. Good Luck don’t hesitate to comment again if you need anymore help!!!
Thanks for getting back to me.
I made a mistake though – I’ve actually got a Nodal Ninja 3! I tried your settings and they didn’t work out, so after failing to find the correct settings on the net I just set out to do it myself.
After much trial and error, my rail settings for the Nikon D90 with Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye lens with a Nodal Ninja 3(II) and NCP1 Camera mounting plate (which adds 10mm to the lower rail) are:
Upper rail: 86mm
Lower rail: 61mm
Hope this helps someone!
Interestingly, my settings were only 1mm off your settings (if you discount my camera mounting plate which came with the 2nd edition of the Ninja 3).
But just a mm had a huge effect on my stitched image!

Hi there, any chance you could enlighten me as to the rail settings? I’m using a D90 with Nikkor 10.5 fisheye with the Nodal Ninja 2! Would really appreciate it!
