Old blog posts

Woo i managed to retrieve some of my old blog posts with my ideas for double project. I cleverly saved the contents as txt files when i was having problems i just forgot that i had been clever enough to save txt files :-) So even though most of them were posted back in november on my old blog I’m just going to post them up as if they were all posted this week because i can’t remember for the life of me when they were originally posted.

Inspirational Photo Techniques

I found this site that showed you 16 different photo techniques and these 3 were my favourites out of all of them. I just loved the intensity of the woman’s eyes in the first picture it gets you thinking about what she was thinking about. The second picture just looks amazing with the ring of light all around her giving her an almost ethereal glow. The last one is just plain cool the posing in it is fantastic and the detail on the foot is awesome.

Stumble Upon

Ok Stumble Upon is now officially my new best friend i added it to firefox ages ago but kept forgetting it was there but recently discovered the greatness of it. I have encountered so many cool things that i might not have found through general googling. It’s a great little add-on because you can cater the stumbles that are found to your specific likes making the odds of you finding a website your actually going to appreciate much higher. So pretty much most of the cool sites and pictures i post on here would have been found through stumble!!!

New name and hosting

After e-host ended up screwing up my old blog and making it impossible for me to use ecto with it as well as deleting about 2 weeks worth of posts i have now swapped hosting companies and am now with the lovely people at webhostingbuzz. Part of my hosting package was a new domain name so i decided to take advantage of that to have a fresh start for the rest of the 3rd year. While pondering it over i was interupted by Mark who told me i had to come up with a name there and then otherwise he would choose which he actually ended up doing in the end. Thus came the beginning of pixip.org

PIXEL + FERNIP = PIXIP

So here is the beginning of what will hopefully be a much more updated blog with cool sites and the likes as well as my work and experiments!!

Neal Stephenson

Well it’s a long time coming I kept meaning to blog it but I am soooo loving Neal Stephenson. I finished The Diamond age a while ago but it absolutely blew my mind I haven’t been that challenged by a book in a long time. It was tough going to start with and i was tempted to give up a few times but I kept at it and was so glad that I did. The whole story-line was just … WOW, I don’t really know how else to describe it the way he thinks is just so much deeper than most and his imagination is so out there it’s in it’s own world. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the ending which was a little bit rushed but Mark assured me that this was a tradition of his. I think you have to read quite regularly and be enthusiastic about it otherwise this book will just go over your head. I have already gone out and bought Quicksilver : Part 1 of his Baroque Cycle however it is on hold until i have re-read Northern Lights in preparation for the film coming out in the beginning of December.
