The opening page of this site was enough to captivate my interest the symbol was incredibly simplistic but really well designed giving it an almost 3d look. I then realised that when you rolled over it appeared as if a spotlight was turned on along with a futuristic sound. Rollovers like this can sometimes seem a bit gaudy and over zealous yet it really seem to work with this site.

Once through there is a menu page with simplistic icons the really nice touch though is that they have small periodical animations that kind of invite you to click. The main section of the site has a definite japanese anime feel to it with bright colours and simplistic graphics. The site is very much interactive with lots of material to discover and click. It has clear and concise instructions on how to navigate the site . It even gives you tips on the best way to use the flash plugin on a PC or a Mac. The aim of the site is to find the secret codes to unlock the secret garden in order to find the codes you have to participate in simple mini-games that mainly consist of pointing and clicking. I really like the whole idea of this site and the navigation is incredibly easy to use it’s definitely something i will keep in mind when thinking up my idea for MMA.

MOWA – Museum of Web Art

http://www.mowa.org/enter.html

For a website about web art it was a rather uninspiring website aesthetically but i was pleasantly surprised as i delved further. The aesthetics didn’t change all that much but the content was really interesting. It showcased some of the earliest work into web art like buttons and wallpapers. I think what surprised me the most was how most of this was from around 1995-1998 it feels like we’ve had the internet for so long yet when you see those dates it feels like it was incredibly recent. It amazes me how far the internet has come along in the matter of a decade or so. It makes me think that these people who created something so basic we would scoff at it now paved the way for the intricate and amazing sites we have now.
